Lewisham Irish Community Centre has secured NCDP funding to team up with Catford Fridge and an enthusiastic group of cyclists from Wheels for Wellbeing in a project to deliver healthy meals to the older Irish; and those self-isolating in our community.
Each Wednesday morning, our brilliant volunteer chef Andrea cooks up tasty lunches in the Irish Centre kitchen – to be collected by our keen cycling volunteers and delivered across the borough of Lewisham.
The cycling team – who include Matt, Sarah, Debbie, Emma, Heidi, Jane, Eamon and Jane deliver to the door – as fast as their pedals can take them!
Jane said “I’m so pleased to be one small part of this fantastic project delivering delicious hot meals by bike to elderly and vulnerable people”
Pauline and Colin (pictured) said “These meals are so tasty! We look forward to what treat will come to our door each Wednesday lunchtime”
“This is a wonderful way of staying connected with our older Community” said Lewisham Irish Community Centre Manager, Kathleen Sheridan.
