As Lewisham Irish Community Centre commemorates 30 years, it provides an opportunity to celebrate the lives of the Irish in Lewisham and their contribution to the Borough.

We’ve gathered stories from across our community, including from our Irish Elders, many of whom have accessed the Centre for three decades, and others who have joined the community around the time of the pandemic and forged a strong relationship with the Centre. We wanted to reflect the diversity of the Irish community by inviting local Irish representatives, musicians, and community leaders to share their story and capture the experience across the generations.

Our 30 years of history as an Irish Centre forms part of the fabric of the story of the Irish in London. We’re glad we can reflect on the stories of our community from the previous 30, thankful for the contributions of those who have come before us and ready to forge the next chapter of our story together.
