A small group of elderly Centre users were treated to a fabulous performance by the Kelly Sisters – local residents, volunteers and strong supporters of the Lewisham Irish Centre.

The Sisters – Fiona (Flute) and Jean (Harp) – are accomplished and highly sought after classical concert musicians – who perform together and individually at the very highest level – both internationally and at home. The Sisters played a number of Irish classics; as well as covering requests from audience members. It was a stunning occasion for all lucky enough to be there.

Just before the recital by Fiona and Jean, the audience warmed themselves up with Tai Chi exercises led by Wayne from Training4 Life – who holds a regular class at the Centre. The whole event was carefully managed within Covid-19 guidelines – taking place just prior to London moving into Tier 2.

“It was a very emotional and heart-warming morning at the Centre – an opportunity for us to bring to our Centre those who may have felt isolated and vulnerable in these very difficult times”

Kathleen Sheridan, Centre
Manager.

“We so much appreciate the help of supporters in whatever form. Any help goes a long, long way at the Irish Centre – towards meeting need across the Community in Lewisham – regardless of whether they have an Irish background”

Eamon Martin, Trustee and Treasurer at the Centre
